Dear (Asian) Parents,
We understand your concern. We too are disgusted, outraged and appalled at not only the apathy but the handling of women’s safety in India.
We’ve watched the documentary on women’s safety in India and we have our own personal experiences to go by. We know why you don’t want us travelling alone but we also know that it’s more detrimental to a society to live in fear.
We’re all experiencing life in our own unique ways. Each and every one has a story tell, be brave enough to let the world hear it.
Have you ever felt like you’re not good enough? Maybe you felt like you weren’t good enough for someone, academically or just worthy enough to live your own dreams.
Well, you know what? That’s absolutely false.
For a long time I felt like I wasn’t good enough because I wasn’t studying in medical school, like a good, typical Indian. However much my parents assure me otherwise, there’s a small part of me that still believes it to this day.
Today is worth living, for your own dreams, not someone else’s. You start and end this world alone, in possession of one precious gift called life. It is up to you what you do with it; whether you choose to live life for yourself or not, the time will pass anyway. So isn’t it just worth making it YOUR best life?
