Facing The Fear Everyday…Love without limits!

So I’ve been meaning to post a blog that is a bit more personal. A bit more vulnerable. A bit more me.

But the one thing that has been stopping me, is fear.

Fear of being judged, fear of expressing myself properly.

I felt like this the very first time I published a blog post. That scary few seconds before I hit send, my stomach was turning…yet after I had clicked ‘publish’, I got a buzz afterwards. Why? Because I love to write. I wouldn’t blog if I didn’t. I haven’t done many ‘written’ posts in a while (this is hopefully the beginning of more!) But, as some of you may have noticed, each day, there is a new quote hoping to inspire you all on your way through this crazy world we call life.

I love my quotes. I relate to the spoken word in a way like no other. I am one of those rare specimens that require a pen and paper just to make sense of all the thoughts competing for my attention and focus. Many of you reading this will agree and find comfort and inspiration in these quotes, as much as I do. I love hearing how each quote has had a positive impact on your lives; it makes me happy to know that someone’s day has been brightened just by a quote that I’ve found and posted. However, not everyone likes them. Some find them ‘cheesy’ or ‘soppy’ and have given me negative feedback over them. Initially, I took this feedback personally. I hesitated before uploading more, I found shying away from certain quotes I used, just so that I would get more positive feedback and for my content to be liked and accepted.

In doing so though, I realised I wasn’t being true to who I was. Some of these quotes have helped me through some of my toughest periods and denying their impact on my life and my writing, would be denying a part of who I am. What I have come to realise is that you have to do what you love, regardless of the negative feedback. Your passion is worth any hate you receive. Why?

Because when people hate, it’s not because they actually have a problem with you. Whatever they appear to ‘hate’ about you, is actually a reflection of what they ‘hate’ about themselves. The first time I heard this concept, it confused me. Yet, as I thought about it, everything became clear.

In addition to this, every single one of us is trying to forge our own path – we’re doing the best we can given our own unique circumstances. A person is the way they are because of their own individual experiences and so we have no right to judge. All we can really do is to love without limits.

So today: Love & respect & smile. Celebrate being you and keep facing your fears everyday #FAFE!

Love & respect,
Ana at The Asian Destination xo

What’s your unique story?

We’re all experiencing life in our own unique ways. Each and every one has a story tell, be brave enough to let the world hear it.

Have you ever felt like you’re not good enough? Maybe you felt like you weren’t good enough for someone, academically or just worthy enough to live your own dreams.

Well, you know what? That’s absolutely false.
For a long time I felt like I wasn’t good enough because I wasn’t studying in medical school, like a good, typical Indian. However much my parents assure me otherwise, there’s a small part of me that still believes it to this day.

Today is worth living, for your own dreams, not someone else’s. You start and end this world alone, in possession of one precious gift called life. It is up to you what you do with it; whether you choose to live life for yourself or not, the time will pass anyway. So isn’t it just worth making it YOUR best life?

It's not selfish

We are always taught to be kind, thoughtful and selflessto put others before ourselves.

However, how often do you look after yourself the same way you would look after a friend or loved one? Why is it always easier to encourage other people to eat healthy, go to the doctor, take time for themselves yet so hard for us take our advice?

Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in trying to help everyone else, become too involved in fixing the problems of other people, rather than focus on own needs first.

That’s not to say we should not care about others, of course we should.

Sometimes, though we must make sure that we’re not trying to avoid tackling our own problems by helping out everyone else first.

A good example is the safety advice on aeroplanes in case of emergency: ‘Put your own oxygen mask on before you can help others’.  Without your own mask & your own well-being, you will be unable to assist others, as much you try to.

So Today:  When you say ‘yes’ to others, make sure you are not saying ‘no’ to yourself. – Paul Coehlo

There’s the idea that the better at multi-tasking we are, the more efficient and effective we are.

Sometimes however, I have found this to be counter-productive.

I end up rushing around, carrying out numerous errands simultaneously only to get half way through each of them before realising I should be focusing on another thing on my to-do list.

When it comes to the ‘big things’ I personally work best when I set aside some time to just focus on one thing at a time.

That way all your energy can be channeled into ensuring you give your all to the task at hand.

So Today: Just Focus.

Tackle one thing at a time but do it to the best of your ability.

Why not try it & let me know if it works for you!

Dreams

Does this seem strange? A lot of the time, we often limit ourselves into believing we are incapable of achieving things; we often deem it as ‘impossible’ because we’re not <<insert adjective>> enough.

However, I have found that having goals that evoke fear can actually be good. They allow us to tap into the inner strength we all have but don’t use often enough as we should. Each time we do though, we gain a little momentum and somehow, that seemingly impossible goal becomes more of a reality.

So today, reevaluate. Do your dreams scare you?

I'm On My Way

Many of us, whether we’re studying for exams or working on coursework have moments where we struggle. It can be frustrating to not see the end of the tunnel; often the journey can seem never ending, and we lose our motivation.

Remember, we might not be where we would like ourselves to be right this minute, but we will get there. Don’t lose hope. As long as we keep taking one step at a time, every single day, it will happen.

‘Might not be on the top of the world but hey, I’m on my way’

– Charlie Brown.
