5 Things Stopping You From Success

5 Things Stopping You From Succeeding

You have the goal. You have the dream. You may even have a plan.

But that is not enough.

The difference between achieving a goal and merely wanting it is the amount of dedicated hours you’re willing to put in order to make it a reality. We all know this in theory but putting into practice is a lot harder. Why?

1. I don’t know about you but there are the days when I just can’t be bothered i.e. I get lazy.

We procrastinate. We kid ourselves into believing we can do the task later, tomorrow, next month.

NO.

If something is worth having, it requires dedicated effort now.

Don’t put off something for tomorrow that you can do TODAY.

2.       We are our own worst enemy.

We start to believe that little voice inside that says:

‘I don’t deserve this..’ ‘I’m not <<insert adjective>> enough’

If you have the creativity to visualise and aspire for something greater, know you are worthy enough. Have the courage to follow it through.

3. We compare ourselves to other people.

Life is not a race. People will travel along their chosen paths, will grow into their own and have different aspirations, all at varied paces.

There is no right or wrong. Though we share the world with billions of neighbours, we are living this one life for ourselves.  We all have a unique gift. Don’t deprive the world of what you have to offer.

4.       Trying to please everyone.

I’ve tried to do subconsciously do this before and let me tell you one thing. You will NEVER be able to please everyone. Not everyone will agree with you, not everyone will like you. But one of life’s lessons is that, it really does not matter.

As long as your choices and decisions are 100% for you (and don’t intentionally hurt others) don’t feel guilty for following your own dreams.

5.       We Don’t Commit.

We’ve all fallen into the trap I think. We feel excited about a new goal, resolution or plan.

It goes well for a day, week or if you’re lucky several months. But eventually, we run out of steam. It’s hard to keep up the momentum, and like running, once you stop, it’s so much harder to pick yourself up and continue at the same pace.

Don’t feel too discouraged.

We all have lapses.

Realise that this break is temporary and remind yourself of why you started, what it is you want to achieve and feel.

There may be some more to add to the list so feel free to comment below! We’ll also be sharing some new ideas with you all in November so keep your eyes peeled.

Good Luck with all your goals, dreams and aspirations today and for this month of November!

With love,

The Asian Destination xo

We know. We know. Where HAS The Asian Destination been hiding?!

Did you miss us?

The answer to that is – YES, of course!

(You have no choice now, we’re back and planning on sticking around now!)

So what happened?

1. LIFE happened.

2. For various reasons, we ended up MISSING OUT on summer (this should NOT be allowed. Pass me the suggestion box…)

3. Got ill (TYPICAL).

& then this happened:

4. Writers’ Block.

So Yes.

Have you ever been in the position where you know you need to apologise after a stupid argument with someone…and the longer you leave it, the harder it gets?

Well, much like that – it became increasingly difficult to get back on it and write a post.

ANY post.

Want to know a secret? You want to know what the real plan was?

Of course you do.

The plan was: to wow you in the month of October with some new and exciting things.

The reality?

Well, this is The ADestination – so our desi roots may have caught up with us and we may be running slightly behind schedule…just a TAD (brownie points if you saw what we did there…)

We might be desi, but we’re also a little OCD.

If we’re going to carry out something, we want to do it right, which meant that we’d originally decided to post on 1st October.

But here we are. Please accept our utmost apologies for the delay but más vale tarde que nunca…better late than never!

And hopefully you won’t be too disappointed with us because we have some new posts that you’ll just need to stay tuned in for, including a guest post by Lucy from Feed You Fashion!

So while you wait, click here to familiarise yourself!

Happy Monday! xo

Do you suffer from this too?!

‘Do one thing everyday that scares you’

– Eleanor Roosevelt.

FAFE

It’s the start of a new academic year. At least in the UK it is, and it’s only just starting.

For some of us, this might not mean much, especially if you’ve had a long summer working, be it in at a full-time job or studying for a particular academic qualification. In my case, autumn approaching leaves me asking: where did the summer go and how is it September already?!

September is usually the start of ‘new beginnings’ in terms of the academic year. New goals are being set and new aspirations are made with hope.

September also means multiple new notebooks and that dreaded ‘first blank page syndrome’.

Not sure what I’m talking about?

Have you ever felt intimidated of starting work on that blank page because you were worried it wouldn’t be ‘perfect’?

The blank page may come in various shapes and sizes. It may be the team/part you never tried out for because you weren’t in ‘perfect shape’ and ‘it wasn’t the right time’. Or maybe you never started that project because you didn’t ‘just the right’ lighting, resources or money.

Sound familiar?

I’m sure we’ve all experienced the hesitance at starting something before we were ready, for fear of not being perfect.

I’ve been putting off  the ‘facing a fear’ series for that very reason!

Facing A Fear Everyday (FAFE) is aimed at doing something out of my comfort zone and taking a step towards being better, every single day.

It doesn’t matter how tiny the step is, as long as you keep moving forward.

So today: Whatever it is – START. Take that first step and test your FAFE!

If you liked this post or if it inspired you to try and join me FAFE then get in touch!

Who wants a fairytale anyway?!

20130816-215856.jpg

Take the road less travelled and see where it takes you.

The time is now, what lessons have you learnt that you want to put into practice?

When we’re young, we often think life will pan out like one big fairytale. This can only be for the better: life is what you make of it: who wants a boring fairytale anyway? Aren’t you worth more than that?

Don’t you wish you knew your limits, don’t you wish you’d unlocked your full potential? Then start living, start seeing every setback, every challenge and every obstacle for what it really is: an opportunity.

Want an opportunity to grow, an opportunity to show your full strength? Life throws you hardships and waits for you to man up and fight back.

So today: Make your own happy ending…because fairytale’s are getting old anyway.

Don’t be afraid to say yes to life!
