Friday Fun|Pentolina in Brook Green

I can now say: ‘I know this great little Italian place..’

As soon as you enter Pentolina, in Brook Green, there is a feeling of envy.

You know when you go to someone else’s house and you immediately are taken ill with house-envy.

Just knowing the place is tidier, better co-ordinated and oozing more effortless sophistication than you could ever create yourself. Yep. I was suffering from it.

The inside appears small but we were led downstairs into a welcoming dining room. It felt almost as if we’d been invited over for an intimate dinner party…only with various other people as well.

To give you an idea of what is on offer, here is a little sample menu:


Vellutata di Piselli con Gamberoni Rossi Siciliani Saltati in Padella e Olio al Dragoncello 

Peas Veloutee with Pan Fried Sicilian Red King Prawnsand Tarragon Scented Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Crostini con Sgombro Affumicato, Cipollina e Scorza di Limone 

Crostini with Smoked Mackerel, Spring Onion and Lemon Zest

Prosciutto Crudo di Desulo e Mozzarella di Bufala Campana 

Desulo Cured Ham with Fresh Buffalo Mozzarella

Tomino delle Langhe al Forno con Miele e Mandorle 

Baked Tomino Cheese with Honey and Almond Flakes

Insalata di Finocchi, Rape Rosse e Arance con Olio alla Menta e Aceto Balsamico 

Fresh Fennel, Beetroot and Orange Salad with Mint Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar

Insalata Caprese 

Fresh Buffalo Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil Salad


 Here we had liver pate on bruscetta.

Spaghetti with Monk Fish, Capers, Olives and Cherry Tomatoes

Paccheri con Ragu di Capretto dei Pirenei alle Spezie 

Paccheri Pasta with Spiced Pyrenees Kid Goat Ragout

Pappardelle con Carbonara di Asparagi e Fiore Sardo 

Pappardelle Pasta with Fresh English Asparagus and Sardinian Pecorino Carbonara

San Pietro Saltato in Padella con Vignarola 

Pan Fried John Dory Fillet with Spring Vegetable Vignarola

Controfiletto ai Ferri, Patate al Forno e Fagiolini 

Sirloin Steak, Roasted Potatoes and Green Beans    

Costata d’Agnello al Forno con Friarielli e Pure di Patate Roasted Rack of Lamb with Neapolitan Style Turnips Top and Mashed Potatoes

If you’re a fan of the subtle Italian flavours on fish then I’d give any of Pentolina’s fish dishes a try.


If you’re feeling game, and find it on the menu, then why not go for a dish with rabbit?

When we went, there was also a panna cotta on offer & chocolate cake…


…both of which I’d recommend!


All in all, this place is beautiful in surroundings, ambience and food.

Perfect for a quiet evening dinner or even take advantage of their set menus at lunch time.
